Job Description
Description: Cornell University’s Government Department invites applications for a 12-month research post-doctoral position to work on the “Elsie Initiative for Women in Peace Operations Research Project.” The Post-Doc will assist Dr. Sabrina Karim, the Primary Investigator, on implementing surveys and conducting survey analysis with the security forces of various countries.
The Post-Doc will be expected to travel to countries (when possible) and will be responsible for helping to implement the barrier assessment methodology, oversee research institutions in these countries, program instruments for the data collection, and analyze the data. The project also involves cleaning data, creating a codebook, analyzing data for policy reports, and writing policy reports. Data from the project will be used to do co-authored research. The Post-Doc will not be involved in teaching any courses at Cornell University.
Qualifications: Scholars with a Ph.D. in Political Science, Sociology, Economics or related disciplines in the social sciences will be considered. Candidates must demonstrate an understanding of theories related to gender as well as demonstrate ability to engage in quantitative research methods in particular the implementation of and analysis of surveys. Proficiency in R and/or STATA is required. Candidates must be able to travel internationally (when possible) during the course of the post-doc.
